Ignorance about sharia

I refer to the letter on stoning by G. Bertrand in The Jakarta
Post, Sept. 30.

As a Muslim I am amazed by the ignorance about sharia and wish
to emphasize that Islam does not teach any violence, let alone
barbaric act as you mentioned, otherwise people would generalize
Islam as a kind of terrorist. This is an extremely misleading
idea.

A woman having a baby out of wedlock will be executed by
stoning only when the child has reached two years old and not
aged two months as the baby still needs breast-feeding.

However, the mother of the baby has been freed from stoning
execution by the Nigerian court.
