If I were president I would ...

If I were president I would create jobs for the masses. I would create jobs by luring companies to Indonesia. To lure companies and make it attractive for business I would abolish airport departure tax, which is detrimental to business!

I would reform the immigration system so that it is transparent and simple. I would make temporary stay permit (KITAS) renewals simple. I would introduce a point system for government officials, as is done elsewhere, where a passport carries high points, a birth certificate carries high points etc. so that one has only to produce evidence of an ID via two or three main documents of choice rather than the present bureaucratic system that encourages dishonesty among government officials.

I would reform the ports authority, police force and justice system by implementing an independent commission against corruption.

I would concentrate on building up the tourist industry, which is in shambles. I would do this by eliminating the visa costs and length of stay. At present the system discourages tourists. I would develop other places of tourism besides Bali (Nias, for example which does not have a good airport near Saroke, nor do Pelni ships stop at Teluk Dalam).

I would declare democratic elections for the position of governor throughout Indonesia and make all positions from neighborhood chief to president democratic.

I would bring to justice those who are unjust, irrespective of wealth, political clout, military background, and those who murder.

I would institute a ruling government and opposition(s). I would have all legislators democratically elected, not just the majority.

I would introduce the study of environmental studies in the elementary school curriculum as mandatory.

There are many other things I would love to do if I were president, but I am not the president.
