Dangdut exploitation

From Koran Tempo

Nearly all local TV stations are broadcasting dangdut (a blend of Indian, Arabic and Malay music) shows with dances that go beyond eastern esthetic values. Female singers are appearing with erotic shaking movements rather then only gyrations.

When dangdut icon Inul introduced her drilling or gyrating style known as ngebor, the other artists followed with even hotter dances. Now they perform in more open garb, some even only in underwear covered by thin and transparent clothing.

Worse still, the shows dominate TV programs from dawn to dusk, including the hours when children enjoy entertainment on the small screen. In the past, such performances could only be found in open air shows near midnight, when children were sound asleep.

Have the managers of TV stations lost their concern and sense of guilt as they continue to air such programs?
