ID model: The quietest and most compact PC

'S-HERTOGENBOSCH, The Netherlands (JP): The ultra-slimline desktop (ID) is the most recent of the Tulip Vision Line Desktops' four models.

Roelof Lambert, marketing communications manager of Tulip Computers, said this Pentium processor-based series was flexible in meeting user needs.

"It meets all the needs for network or stand-alone operation, front-office or point-of-sale applications, and other areas where PC visibility is high or noise must be low," he said.

The ID system is one of the quietest in the world -- "listen" for the virtual silence of this noiseless workstation.

He said the computer provided customers with more desk space, with a much smaller footprint than any of its contemporaries. The computer is designed so the system can regulate the heat production, even after prolonged use.

The company has managed to fit highly integrated and powerful systems into compact enclosures, Lambert said.

The compact and silent ID system provides customers with everything they need to work more efficiently. There is a fast (4Mbit/s) onboard IrDa interface for wireless information exchange, and integrated PCMCIA slots for flexible expandability.

This means customers can connect their Ethernet-based system to a Token ring across a PC card, or exchange information with their wireless notebook.

"The other three models are a compact desktop (DT), an expandable desktop (DE) and a deskside (DS). All the four models can be configured with a variety of processors and hard disk drives," Lambert said.

The compact DT model can easily be expanded for professional and multimedia applications to handle a wide variety of business and graphics software, he said.

Both the DE and DS models are the computers for desktop users who want to add storage devices and peripherals like additional disk drives, fax/modem, video and sound cards.

Powerful enough for the toughest technical applications, both models have spacious room for expansion. Using the right key, the PowerLock casing easily removes to reveal six plug-and-play expansion slots and three (DE models) or eight (DS models) drive bays of which several are front accessible. (hhr)
