ID cards for seasonal residents

JAKARTA (JP): Head of the City Population Office Soemarto
announced yesterday that all seasonal residents are obliged to
register themselves at the city's subdistrict offices to process
temporary citizenship cards.

Based on Gubernatorial Degree No. 339/1995, all seasonal
residents must register within 14 days of arriving in the city,
Soemarto said. He said that the regulation was issued to record
all residents living in the city. The registration has been
opened as of June 1.

The temporary citizenship cards are valid for a period of six
months and cannot be extended. To get the cards the applicants
have to fulfill certain requirements, including supplying photos
and appropriate papers from their hometowns. (yns)
