ICW to report school principal for graft
JAKARTA: Indonesian Corruption Watch will file a report with the National Police alleging corruption by the principal of SMP 2 state junior high school in Balaraja, Tangerang regency.
ICW official Ade Irawan told a media conference on Friday that parents and teachers had complained to the organization that principal Ahmad Rifai had allegedly embezzled around Rp 18.8 million (US$2,043) from the school budget.
Ade said that the principal had not been transparent about Rp 70 million in funds collected from students' parents for school building construction.
A parent, Agus Hidayat, said they had reported their allegations to the Tangerang regency education agency but had not yet received a response.
Teacher Wildan Chandra said that teachers had demanded the dismissal of Ahmad but the agency had not responded to that, either. -- JP
