Ibis hotels to hold chess meet

JAKARTA (JP): Five Ibis hotels and Hotel Arcadia here will
hold chess tournaments for students from Nov. 20 to Nov. 28, a
spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

The five Ibis hotels are Ibis Kemayoran, Ibis Slipi, Ibis
Tamarin, Ibis Mangga Dua and Ibis Cikarang.

Agustina Endrayanti told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday for the
Ibis hotels here and Hotel Arcadia, the number of participants
are limited to 30 people for each hotel.

"If the number is above 30 people at each Ibis hotel, we will
transfer them to our Ibis hotels in Surabaya and Yogyakarta.
National masters are not allowed to participate in the
tournaments," Agustina said.

Ibis Kemayoran will hold the tournament from Nov. 26 to Nov.
28, Ibis Slipi Nov. 20-22, Ibis Mangga Dua Nov. 26-28 and
Cikarang Nov. 26-28. Hotel Arcadia will hold from Nov. 20-22.

"The final round will be held at Ibis Mangga Dua, Dec. 3-5. A
total cash prize of Rp 15 million will be offered to the winners.
The winner will be awarded as the Hotel Ibis chess champion,"
Agustina said.

Grand Master Utut Adianto is expected to open the tournament
where he will also play against the finalists in a simultant
game.

Students who are interested to take part in the chess
tournaments may register at the respective Ibis hotels with a
registration fee of Rp 50,000 per person. (lnt)
