Husband barred from meeting wife

DHAKA (AFP): A court here temporarily restrained the Swiss husband of popular Bangladeshi singer, Runa Laila, from entering her house after she filed for a permanent injunction against him, newspapers reported yesterday.

The ruling late Thursday also ordered Ron Daniel Pilnik, the singer's second husband, not to damage her property or act in any manner which might cause nuisance or injury to her, the Independent daily reported.

Runa, as the multi-lingual singer is known on the subcontinent, filed the suit for a permanent injunction against Pilnik, alleging that he refused to solemnize their marriage according to Islamic rules despite his conversion, and that he abused her, it said.

Pilnik, a businessman who makes frequent trips to Bangladesh, was not available for comment.
