Humanitarian deed needed

This letter is to invoke our appreciation for the thought- provoking article Tsunami calls for true 'Jihad' contributed to The Jakarta Post on Jan. 27 by Zakiyuddin Baidhawy.

It's really tragic that religious fanatics like Osama bin Laden who claim to be the crusaders for the religion of Allah are not responding in this hour of need.

All of us are well aware of the fact that Indonesia is the largest Muslim dominated country in the world and it leaves one in a state of astonishment that he has not yet organized any humanitarian operations to assist the grief-stricken victims of the tsunami.

It's time for the leaders to encourage others in rebuilding the areas devastated by the tsunami.

We thank the writer and the Post for making us realize that such persons are only fighting in the name of religion rather than working for the betterment of the people. We hope to see a true jihad in the near future.
