HP expects robust sales growth in RI
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian subsidiary of the United States- based PC and printer producer, Hewlett-Packard, expects a 30 percent increase in its Indonesian sales to US$130 million this year, from about $100 million in 2000.
PT Hewlett-Packard Indonesia's general manager Andreas Diantoro said here on Friday that he was optimistic that this year's sales target could be achieved, given a continued increase in demand in the country.
"During November to March, we booked a 35 percent increase in revenues," he told a press briefing.
HP Indonesia sells computer hardware, software and printers. It also provides information and technology consulting services.
According to Andreas, consulting services and printers and other related products contributed about 67 percent or $67 million of its total revenues last year, while PC sales only contributed 33 percent or $33 million of HP Indonesia's revenues in 2000.
Commenting on reports of electrical problem in HP's monitor products sold in the United States and some countries in Latin America, Andreas said that his office had not received any complaints from local buyers.
But he advised buyers to report to his office if there was anything wrong with the electrical system in their monitor.
HP recently tested about 35,000 of its HP monitors sold in the United States and some countries in Latin America, following a complaint that the electrical system on its series D8903A monitor had caused an electric shock.
He said that only four of the monitors tested had electrical problems. (05)
