Houston, Nailon lead Knicks to first victory

Allan Houston had 21 points and Lee Nailon added 20 to help the New York Knicks record its first win of the season, 95-88 over the Sacramento Kings Wednesday.

Charlie Ward and Shandon Anderson both had 15 points for New York (1-4) as the Knicks handed the Kings its third successive loss. Sacramento is on its first three-game losing streak in two seasons.

Chris Webber had 22 points for Sacramento (3-3) and Peja Stojakovic added 19. The Kings, playing its fourth road game in five nights, opened the season with three consecutive wins.

Sacramento's Keon Clark missed the game with a strained groin. The Kings are 1-16 against the Knicks since moving from Kansas City and have not won in New York since 1996.

After its string of sell-outs at Madison Square Garden was ended at 433 games Monday, the Knicks was watched by a capacity crowd of 19,763 Wednesday and turned in its best performance of the season.

In Toronto, Dirk Nowitzki scored 28 points and added 13 rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks took advantage of the injury- riddled Raptors to defeat the host 106-92.

Michael Finley had 22 points for the Mavericks, one of three teams still unbeaten in the NBA at 4-0. Shawn Bradley added 14 points and 13 rebounds.

The Raptors was without Vince Carter and Antonio Davis, both out with injuries. Center Jelani McCoy did not play after the first quarter because of a back injury and four other roster players are also on the sidelines.

Voshon Lenard led Toronto (2-3) with 20 points.

In Washington, Jerry Stackhouse poured in 35 points to lead the Wizards past the Cleveland Cavaliers 107-100.

It was the first win in three games for Washington (2-3). Michael Jordan had just six points for the Wizards, all in the fourth quarter.

Ricky Davis had 27 points for the Cavaliers (2-3), who held the Los Angeles Lakers to just 70 points in their win in Cleveland Tuesday.

In Philadelphia, Allen Iverson had 34 points as the 76ers won its third game in a row, downing the Los Angeles Clippers 101-99 in overtime.

Todd MacCulloch added 15 points and eight rebounds for the 76ers. Aaron McKie contributed 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Elton Brand had 21 points and 19 rebounds for the Clippers (1- 3). Michael Olowokandi had 14 points and 13 rebounds while Eric Piatkowski and Corey Maggette each added 18 points.

In Chicago, Antoine Walker had 22 points and Paul Pierce added 17 as the Boston Celtics brushed aside the Bulls 91-69.

In New Orleans, Baron Davis had 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Hornets handed the Seattle SuperSonics its first loss of the season, 86-84.

In Phoenix, Shawn Marion had 28 points and Penny Hardaway added 20 as the Suns defeated the Atlanta Hawks 93-88.

In Salt Lake City, Jon Barry's three-pointer with 22.2 seconds left was the winning basket as the Detroit Pistons edged the Utah Jazz 80-78.

In Milwaukee, Ray Allen had 29 points as the Bucks handed the New Jersey Nets its first loss of the season, 99-93.

Jason Kidd had 24 points to lead New Jersey (4-1).

In Portland, Rasheed Wallace had 18 points as the Trail Blazers kept Memphis winless, downing the Grizzlies 94-88.
