Houses donated for refugees

YOGYAKARTA: Local residents have collected funds to build 200 knocked-down bamboo houses to be donated to East Timorese refugees, Governor Hamengkubuwono X said on Thursday.

"This is a contribution from the people of Yogyakarta for our brothers and sisters from East Timor who are currently suffering in a war zone," Hamengkubuwono told reporters.

The provincial administration of Yogyakarta will organize and build the houses, which cost about Rp 2.5 million each. (44)
