Housemaid jailed for stealing

TANGERANG (JP): A housemaid was sentenced to one-year imprisonment on Monday for stealing her employer's valuables at Poris housing complex in Tangerang.

Presiding judge Sitinjak of the Tangerang District Court said in the verdict that the defendant Saroh, 21, who was from Sembaga village, Tegal, Central Java, began working for her employer Tri Daintini on May 27.

After working for four days, Saroh said she wanted to return to her village. As Daintini was suspicious, she checked the maid's travel bag. She found a cellular phone, a camera, three wristwatches, two pairs of glasses and Rp 125,000 in cash that belonged to her in the bag.(41)
