House to propose information bill
JAKARTA: The House of Representatives agreed on Tuesday to propose a bill on access to public information in a bid to promote democracy.
All 10 factions in the House concluded that such a bill was urgent to help promote democracy, while still allowing the government to keep secret highly confidential information.
A similar bill was proposed last year when the government expressed its intention to draw up a bill on state secrecy. Observers have suggested the two planned bills be combined into one draft law. -- JP
