House members to go overseas
JAKARTA: Five members of the House of Representatives will visit Malaysia and Singapore between Feb. 8 and Feb. 13 to discuss, among others things, migrant workers and border issues with the host countries.
Deputy House Speaker A. M. Fatwa will head the delegation, which will meet parliamentarians and government officials in the neigboring countries.
Yasril Ananta Baharuddin, a member of the delegation, said on Tuesday the talks with Malaysia would focus on protection of Indonesian migrant workers, while border issues will highlight the talks with Singapore.
Border issues were among the topics of discussion during the recent visit of Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to Jakarta.
Jakarta has complained about Singapore's major reclamation project which is feared may affect the sea borders with Indonesia. -- JP
