House in Pejaten destroyed by fire

JAKARTA: A house belonging to a 62-year-old widow in Pejaten
Timur, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, was destroyed early on
Thursday by fire.

The fire also destroyed two cars and a motorcycle.

No fatalities were reported. The Pasar Minggu Police suspect a
short circuit caused the fire. Police are still calculating the
monetary losses.

A domestic servant at the house, Eni, 25, was awakened at
about 3 a.m. and spotted the flames in the garage.

She immediately raised the alarm, and several fire trucks
arrived at the scene 30 minutes later. -- JP
