Hotel to donate meat to the needy

JAKARTA (JP): PT Metropolitan Realty International, the owner of Horison Hotel in Ancol, North Jakarta, will provide three cows and 30 goats for slaughter in commemoration of the Islamic Day of Sacrifice on March 28.

The hotel management announced on Tuesday that the meat would be provided to hotel employees and local residents, particularly the needy.

Horison said it would designate its Krakatau Convention Hall, with capacity for 4,000 people, for both hotel employees and guests to pray on the holy day.

"The prayer to be held at 7 a.m. will be led by H. Ramli Naway," the hotel said in a statement released to The Jakarta Post.

It will be followed by the slaughter of the animals in a ceremony to be attended by members of Metropolitan Realty International's board of directors, hotel employees and hotel guests.

The company said the event was part of the hotel's efforts to express gratitude to both the environment and surrounding community during the crisis, which has caused hotel occupancy rates in the city to fall to about 60 percent. (hhr)
