Hotel occupancy starts recovery
BOGOR (JP): The occupancy rate of hotels in Bogor has improved and has reached an average of 40 percent, head of the West Java Tourism Agency Abdul Kadir said on Saturday.
"One of the newcomers, the three-star Seranusa hotel, has managed an occupancy rate of 50 percent," he said.
"Our success in maintaining such a relatively high occupancy rate during an economic crisis is due to intensive promotion of package tours, in cooperation with several cites and tourist destinations across West Java, he added.
A total of 4.6 million tourists visited Indonesia in 1998, contributing US$4.5 billion to the state's income.
1998 statistics show there was a total of 143 hotels with 12,606 rooms in West Java. (21/edt)
