The Land and Spatial Planning Agency (Dispertaru) of the Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), along with Panitikismo and the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), have closed a hotel in Pucung, Girisubo, Gunungkidul. The closure was carried out because the hotel’s presence violates the Governor’s Regulation (Pergub) on village land utilisation.

Head of the Local Regulation Enforcement Division of Satpol PP Gunungkidul, Sumarno, stated that the hotel closure took place yesterday, Monday (4/5), in the afternoon. This action was based on monitoring results from Dispertaru DIY, Panitikismo, and Satpol PP.

“Follow-up from the monitoring and supervision by Dispertaru DIY and Panitikismo found, among other things, village land utilisation that did not match its intended purpose, specifically in Pucung Village, Girisubo,” he told reporters in Wonosari, Gunungkidul, on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

Subsequently, Satpol PP acted as the field executor by visiting the location in question. Given that the authority over village land utilisation with Sultan Ground (SG) status lies with Dispertaru DIY and Panitikismo.

“So there is village land on which a building in the form of a hotel was erected, utilised for hotel purposes. That’s why yesterday, from Dispertaru DIY to Panitikismo were present there, and then Satpol PP was asked to attend to witness and assist during the closure of Hotel Suling Indah,” he said.

Sumarno also revealed that the basis for closing the hotel is Pergub No. 24 of 2024. The content of the Pergub stipulates that village land must not have buildings erected for hotel utilisation, housing, guesthouses, and others.

“And it will indeed be closed permanently if the utilisation remains as such,” he stated.

Regarding whether there will be further closures of buildings due to village land utilisation not matching its intended purpose in the future, Sumarno admitted that the authority over such land lies with Dispertaru DIY and Panitikismo. However, Satpol PP will continue to conduct monitoring and supervision of village land that does not match its intended purpose.

“Monitoring and supervision will be carried out continuously. That means monitoring and supervision will not just be yesterday or at one location only. As it is a regulation, it will be applied to anyone, and if similar violations are found, they will be treated the same,” he said.
