Hotel catches fire, guests flee in panic

BANDUNG, West Java: The nine-story Panghegar Hotel on Jl. Merdeka caught fire yesterday, causing hundreds of guests and employees to flee in panic.

Antara reported that some guests suffered light injuries, but there were no fatalities.

Witnesses said the fire started at around 1 p.m in the sauna and fitness facilities on the first floor of the three-star hotel.

Three fire brigades extinguished the fire three hours later. A hotel spokesperson estimated a loss of hundreds of million rupiah, and said that the police were investigating the cause of the fire. (swe)
