Hookers rounded up in Bogor

BOGOR (JP): Some 44 prostitutes and 11 transvestites
operating along the city's streets were rounded up in an
operation on Monday night.

The Bogor Mayoralty spokesman Hari Harsono said the
prostitutes and transvestites were caught on Jl. Juanda, Jl.
Merdeka, Jl. Lawang Seketeng and Jl. Pajajaran and in several
public places, including Tugu Kapten Muslihat, Taman Kencana park
and Bogor railway station.

Hari said the people, who are mostly Bogor residents, were
sent to a rehabilitation center in Cibadak, Sukabumi.

He said the operation was conducted by 130 public order
officers and 10 students of the Bogor Agriculture Institute.

Earlier in the afternoon, the mayoralty cracked down on
several movie theaters, tearing down some pornographic banners
and posters out of respect for the Ramadhan fasting month.

Almost all of the banners and posters promoted Indonesian
