Hoodlum mobbed to death

JAKARTA (JP): Angry residents of Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, mobbed and stabbed dead a notorious hoodlum on Thursday night, police said.

Pesanggrahan Police substation chief Adj. Comr. Zainal Abidin said residents of the information ministry housing complex on Jl. Penerangan in Pesanggrahan became outraged at the behavior of the victim, Sutrisno, 38, a resident of Jl. Wijaya Kusuma.

"Sutrisno was known in the area for blackmail, petty theft and making death threats. He had many enemies. We are investigating this case," Zainal said on Friday.

Pesanggrahan Police detectives recovered two sharp sickles covered in blood. (ylt)
