Home affairs ministry to reshuffle top posts
JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Home Affairs will soon reshuffle several high-ranking posts including the induction of former deputy chief of the Armed Forces' Intelligence Agency Maj. Gen. Achdari to replace Sutoyo N.K. as director general for sociopolitical affairs.
The change at the posts is due to the departure of the presiding officials to the House of Representatives (DPR) and the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR).
Minister of Home Affairs Moch. Yogie S.M. confirmed yesterday that an inspector general and director general of sociopolitical affairs will be inducted.
"Maj. Gen. Achdari will replace Maj. Gen. (ret) Sutoyo N.K. as director general of sociopolitical affairs and Maj. Gen. Andi Jalal Bachtiar will replace Maj. Gen. (ret) Soedardjat Nataatmadja as the ministry's inspector general," Yogie told reporters after a hearing with House Commission II for home affairs yesterday.
Achdari and Andi were already sitting with other high-ranking Ministry of Home Affairs officials at yesterday's hearing.
Like their predecessors, the two new officials have a military background.
Achdari served at the Intelligence Agency while Andi is still assistant of personnel supervision to the Armed Forces chief for general affairs.
After serving at the Ministry of Home Affairs for several years, Sutoyo and Soedardjat will now take up seats at the House to represent Central Java and South Kalimantan respectively. As members of the House they automatically hold seats at MPR.
"The transfer-of-duty ceremony will be conducted on Sept. 25," Yogie said.
The 1,000 members of MPR will be installed on Oct. 1. They will convene next March to elect a president and vice president and draw up the State Policy Guidelines.
Several Ministry of Home Affairs officials will also be inducted as members of MPR.
They are former director for public supervision Moeljono Gendon, who will represent Maluku province, and deputy secretary- general of the General Elections Institute Walujo, who will represent Central Java.
Both Moeljono and Walujo will also represent the Golkar faction in the House.
Yogie himself is registered as a member of the Assembly. (imn)
