Hoarding suspect backed by marine

JAKARTA: The principal suspect in the fuel hoarding incident in Ciracas is believed to have been backed up by marine officers, authorities said on Tuesday.

A city police spokesman, Sr. Com Anton Bachrul Alam, said that at the location of the raid, pictures were found of P. Passaribu, the prime suspect who remains at large, wearing a marine uniform and posing with a marine officer.

Anton added that city police will cooperate with military police to hunt down the suspect along with the man who, they said, apparently backed up the hoarding episode.

Currently, the police have detained 11 suspects in the 300- ton fuel hoarding. However, P. Passaribu managed to escape during Monday's raid.

Anton said that, further, 100 police officers from the city police headquarters had been deployed to locate other hoarding spots that have been mushrooming along the Jakarta's seashores, Bekasi and Tangerang.

On Monday, police confiscated 300 tons of fuel, comprising of kerosene and diesel fuel, which were hoarded in a house in Jl. Pengantin Ali, Ciracas, East Jakarta. --JP
