HIV/AIDS cases in Jambi on the rise
JAMBI, Jambi: The Jambi administration is surveying brothels and prisons in the city, to determine the number of HIV/AIDS cases there.
Erwita, the head of Communicable Disease Management at Jambi's health office, said some 600 people would be included in the survey.
There has been an increase in HIV/AIDS cases in Jambi. While in 1999 and 2000 three people were infected with HIV each year, that figure rose to 10 in 2001, when it was reported that seven people were HIV positive and three had developed AIDS. -- JP
