Hit-and-run victim dumped

JAKARTA (JP): Police are looking for the driver of a van who hit and killed a 14-year-old boy and dumped his body on Jl. Jeruk Purut, in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta yesterday.

Witnesses said Rohim, a resident of Kuningan, West Java was hit by the van on Jl. Ampera early in the morning.

A police sergeant at South Jakarta Police precinct speculated that the unidentified driver then picked Rohim up to rush him to a hospital.

When the driver realized the boy had died, he or she then dumped the victim at a nearby street corner, the officer said.

Residents found the body of Rohim at about 7 a.m., he said.

"We did not find any wounds which might indicate that Rohim was deliberately murdered," the officer said.

Rohim's body was waiting at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital's morgue for an autopsy. (jun)
