Hit-and-run accident kills two

DENPASAR, Bali: Police are searching for the driver of a truck
in a hit-and-run accident that killed two people on a motorcycle
on Jl. Raya Kesambi in the Abasan area, some 10 kilometers west
of Denpasar on Friday afternoon.

"It was a yellow truck with a movable tank on it. The truck-
driver split with the truck after the crash," a police officer
said.

The two victims were identified as Joni, 21, and Hadi, 18, who
both lived on Jl. Kunti in Seminyak, Kuta.

The two young men had just made a delivery and were riding the
motorcycle on their way back from Basangkasa, when a speeding
truck crashed into them.

Both victims were thrown from the motorcycle and died
instantly from severe head injuries, bystanders said.

"We've already alerted duty officers in Kuta, Tuban and Bualu
to stop any truck matching the runaway's description," an officer
at the scene said. (zen/ylt)
