Historical walk for journalists

Before covering a procession in which national leaders walked
down Jl. Asia-Africa from the Savoy Homann Hotel to the Merdeka
Building, hundreds of journalists took their own historical walk.

The journalists, from both foreign and local media, were
leaving Preanger Hotel for the media center in the office of the
Indonesian Journalist Association (PWI), which is also located on
Jl. Asia-Africa, when security officers blocked them.

The officers said the street was off-limits to the public --
including journalists -- to ensure the security of the leader's
procession.

As a consequence, journalists had to take an alternative route
through the backyard of the PWI office, adding an extra 200
meters the journey. -- Antara
