Highlights of the epidemic law
Article 3 and 4 of the law says that the Minister of Health is the one who has the authority to determine whether a disease is epidemic or not, and to decide where and when the law is enacted or called off.
Article 5 says that the measures to be taken are: - investigating the epidemic cases - medical checks, treatment and isolating/quarantining patients. - prevention and vaccinations - destroying the source of the disease - treatment for each victim - distribution of information to the public
Article 11 says that everybody who knows of a suspected case should report it to local authorities. The local authorities then must report the case to superiors. Next, the highest authorities in regions have to perform a proper measures to handle the cases.
Point 1 of Article 14 says that anybody restricting the prevention of such measures intentionally, will be put in prison for a maximum of one year and/or fined up to Rp 1 million.
Point 2 of Article 14 says that anybody hampering the preventive measures unintentionally, will be put in prison for up to six months and/or fined up to Rp 500,000.
