Highland Gathering held on Sunday

JAKARTA: The 26th Jakarta Highland Gathering this year will he
held at the Lippo Karawaci sports ground in Tangerang on Sunday.

There will be a number of sports events like five-a-side
soccer, six-a-side rugby and golf, besides the main events,
traditional Scottish games.

Among these are throwing weights, the shot put, and tossing
the caber. A Scottish bagpipe contest will also be held during
the event, which will last the whole day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.,
according to Diarmila Sutedja, a press officer at the British
Embassy in Jakarta.

Apart from local participants, foreign athletes will take part
in the event including athletes from Australia, Brunei
Darussalam, Malaysia, and Singapore.

"The event will be closed with fireworks and a bonfire," said
Diarmila, adding that Governor Sutiyoso would be among the
officials invited to the event.--JP
