Highland Gathering canceled

TANGERANG: This year's Highland Gathering, held annually in
the New Imperial Island Park Showground in Lippo Karawaci, has
been canceled.

In a statement sent to The Jakarta Post on Friday,
organizing committee member Gordon Benton said it was impossible
to hold the gathering this year.

The gathering is normally held in May, but was rescheduled to
Sept. 28 this year before the cancellation.

Benton failed explain why this year's gathering was canceled.

Profits from the gathering go to charity.

Held since 1975, Jakarta residents, locals as well as
expatriates, join in a day of fun and games, music and dance,
strength contests as well. Food and refreshment of many different
origins are also available at the gathering, which hails from
Scotland. --JP
