Hexindo's profit rises

JAKARTA (JP): PT Hexindo Adiperkasa, a publicly-listed distributor of heavy equipment, recorded a net profit of Rp 6.3 billion (US$2.6 million) in the first six months of this year, up from Rp 4.8 billion in the same period last year.

Hexindo said in a statement yesterday that its net sales had risen 21.8 percent to Rp 105.4 billion for the first six months of this year.

The company said it had delivered 50 hydraulic excavators to PT Wahyuni Mandira and PT Dipasena Citra Darmaja of the Gajah Tunggal Group earlier this month. The orders from the two companies were worth Rp 10.8 billion.

Hexindo had a 25 percent share of the domestic heavy equipment market last year mainly due to the sale of its "Hitachi" hydraulic excavators.

The company expects to sell up to 700 hydraulic excavators this year, which will account for 75 to 80 percent of its total sales. (alo)
