Hexindo signs $5.4m deal

JAKARTA (JP): Publicly listed PT Hexindo Adiperkasa, a Hitachi heavy equipment distributor company has secured a US$5.4 million contract to supply heavy equipment to PT Wirakarya Sakti.

The company's president, Rustam Effendi, said on Saturday that the contract would include the sale of 66 excavators and 800 hours training.

The excavators, which would be operated by Wirakarya, a member of the Sinar Mas Group, in its forestry and agricultural projects in Kuala Tngkai, Jambi, would be delivered beginning in January, Rustam said.

"The Sinar Mas Group has been our major client for the forestry and agriculture sector since 1994, with a total purchase of 495 hydraulic excavators, cranes, wheel loaders and skidders," he said.

Previously, the company also signed deals with the Barito Pacific Timber Group worth $1.8 million and with PT Musi Hutan Persada worth $1.4 million. (06)
