Hendrawan given a house and cash

JAKARTA (JP): World badminton champion Hendrawan received a 240-square-meter house in Taman Harapan Indah, Bekasi, and Rp 20 million (US$1,760) in cash from his club Tangkas Bogasari on Thursday.

Tangkas chairman, Justian Suhandinata, said during the awarding ceremony that the reward was to appreciate Hendrawan's achievement and to motivate other shuttlers to equal his performance.

The club also presented cash rewards to Hendrawan's coach, Agus Dwi Santoso and physical trainer Paulus Pasurney and Indonesia's men's doubles coach Herry Imam Pierngadi, who is also Tangkas's coach.

Two Tangkas juniors who grabbed titles at the 2001 Milo Junior Indonesian Open, boys singles Ardiansyah and girls doubles shuttler Endang Nursugianti also received a bonus along with coach Joko Suprianto, the 1993 world champion. (nvn)
