Health course for Nike staff
JAKARTA (JP): Footwear producer PT Pratama Abadi Industri, a subcontractor of Nike International Inc., held a one-day health course on anemia at its factory in Tangerang Monday.
The company said in a statement made available to The Jakarta Post yesterday that the course, which was held in conjunction with the commemoration of Indonesia's 53rd Independence Day, was aimed at providing more than 5,000 of its female employees with knowledge of anemia.
The course was part of various activities, including traditional competitions like tug-of-war and areca palm climbing competitions and a karaoke contest to sales of cheap essential goods both for the factory's workers and nearby residents.
"Independence Day is a joyous occasion for Indonesian everywhere and Nike intends to ensure that its workers and their families are able to join the celebrations amid the prolonged economic crisis," Tony Nava, Nike's country manager for Indonesia, said. (ivy)
