Heads of Prosecutors' Office installed

JAKARTA: Attorney General M.A. Rachman installed Muljohardjo, his former spokesman, as head of the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office on Friday, after the position sat vacant for almost five months.

Muljohardjo replaced Basrief Arief, who had served concurrently as Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence Affairs since September.

Rachman also inaugurated three heads of district offices, including the head of South Jakarta Prosecutor's Office, Poerwanto, the head of Central Jakarta Prosecutor's Office, Salman Maryadi, and the head of North Jakarta Prosecutor's Office, Haeruddin Musa.

Poerwanto, formerly head of Malang Prosecutor's Office in East Java, replaced Antasari Azhar, who is now assistant for general crimes at the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office.

Also on Friday, Antasari said that the dossier on arms possession charges against former president Soeharto's son, Hutomo "Tommy" Mandala Putra, has been considered complete, and that the office would waste no time in submitting it to the court.

"The dossier in the murder case of Supreme Court justice M. Syafiuddin Kartasasmita is still in the police investigators' hands. We expect it to be turned over within the next few days," he said. --JP
