Haze pollutes Jambi air

JAMBI: A thick haze has blanketed Jambi during the past few days, with air pollution levels increasing in the city.

Data obtained on Thursday from Jambi's Environmental Impact Management Body showed the air in the city contained 190 particles for every 10 microns, far higher than the normal rate of between zero to 100 particles per 10 microns.

The haze which has been blanketing the province since Aug. 28 was caused by illegal burning of vegetation and forest fires in several parts of the province. -- JP
