Have a heart
Whilst standing at the cashier's desk paying my lunch bill in Bali, a woman tourist aggressively stalked up with her hand outstretched and loudly said: "I'm waiting for my change." Very apologetically the cashier hastened to give her Rp 800 change and the woman strode out.
Apparently, their lunch bill (for four people) was Rp 100,200, which included 10 percent government tax. Service was not included. I was really quite shocked. OK, I know that a "principle" is involved but 800 rupiah at the moment translates to 10 U.S. cents.
In the present situation, where the gap between the haves and the have-nots has gotten even wider, this sort of behavior can only serve to exacerbate the predicament of the people.
