Hasjim under city arrest

JAKARTA: Suspect in the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Support Fund (BLBI) case, Hasjim Djojohadikusumo, has been placed under city arrest effective Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Presiding Judge Halim Rusdi of the Central Jakarta District Court fulfilled the request of Hasjim's lawyer, Hotman Paris Hutapea, to change Hasjim's status.

Hasjim, former president commissioner of Bank Industri, has been detained at Salemba Penitentiary since March 13. He was arrested along with the bank's director Umar Yudi, who remains at the penitentiary, for violating the legal lending limit which caused the country to suffer losses of Rp 4 billion (US$400,000). -- JP
