Haryono leads golf tournament

SURABAYA (JP): Haryono Min, an amateur golfer from East Java, outshone on Thursday the national training camp golfers by leading the Ciputra golf tournament at the Ciputra Golf Club here.

The Surabaya Yani Golf Club member scored 68 points (33-33). He scored five birdies in the 1st, 9th, 11th, 13th and 14th holes. A perfect score would have gone Haryono's way if he had not made a bogey in the 6th hole (par 4).

Ade Purwadji of Sawangan, Bogor, and Sahid, also of Surabaya, were in second place, both scoring 70 points (34-36). Third place went to four golfers who all scored 72 points, Dennis Oliver (35- 37) of Pondok Indah, South Jakarta, Sardi (35-37) of East Java, Denny Supriadi (35-37) of Jakarta and Hardjito (34-38) of Balikpapan.

Oliver hails from the United States and is a member of the Pondok Indah Padang Golf & Country Club.

Suprapto, the best golfer in East Java, did not show his usual form and dropped in 12th position with 75 points (38-37). He was one of the golfers included in the team at the 20th SEA Games in Jakarta and also played in the Putra Cup. (nur/lnt)
