Hard to swallow

If Soe L. Han from the Myanmar Embassy in Jakarta (The Jakarta Post, May 28, 1996) wants to be perceived as a measured, balanced and reasonable mouthpiece of his country's regime, he needs to be careful with his facts.

I nearly choked on my coffee when I read in his letter that Myanmar law, "as in every country in the world" requires permission from the authorities for public gatherings and meetings. Not in my country (Australia), and not in many others either.
