Happy vendor cashing in

JAKARTA (JP): A Central Java drinks seller has disproved the theory that only orang besar (important people) are making a killing out of the SEA Games.

Chaidir Rachman, 25. who wonders around the Senayan sports complex selling a famous brand of bottled tea, says he is making three times his usual income.

The former public transportation driver from Kebumen, 90 kms west of Yogyakarta, who started selling drinks only three months ago, said yesterday he was selling almost 150 bottles a day.

"Before the SEA Games, I could only sell two crates of bottles per day," he said, adding that during the first day of competition he had earned a Rp 30,000 profit.

"I like this job more than my previous one as a driver because I make more profit and can breathe". (10)
