Hancock opens Bali office

JAKARTA (JP): John Hancock, a major international insurance company in the United States, officially opened on Friday a sales and service center with its Indonesian joint venture in Bali.

The service center is the ninth office opened by PT Asuransi Jiwa Bumiputera John Hancock, the joint venture, since the establishment in 1987.

"Bali's growing economy plays an important role in our expansion strategy in Indonesia," said Derek Chilvers, the chairman of Boston-based John Hancock, at a ceremony to mark the opening of the new office.

The American insurance company began its Indonesian operation over 20 years ago, working with Asuransi Jiwa Bersama Bumiputera 1912 to provide benefits for employees of multinational companies. (hen)
