Hamzah to open seminar in Aceh

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: Vice President Hamzah Haz is scheduled to
open a seminar on Pembangunan Aceh Baru (Development of New Aceh)
in Banda Aceh on Nov. 9.

"Insya Allah (God willing) the vice president will officially
open the seminar, which will involve public representatives from
Aceh," deputy Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam governor Azwar Abubakar
said here on Thursday.

The provincial administration had earlier planned a dialogue
on 'New Aceh' but, following input from the governor and other
local figures, a seminar was preferred, Abubakar said.

According to Abubakar, the one-day seminar will be divided
into sessions focusing on different issues.

"There will be sessions on, among other things, Syariat Islam
(Islamic Law), education, finance, handling of victims of the
conflict and the environment," he said. --Antara
