Habibie to attend Tebu Ireng's centennial
SURABAYA: President B.J. Habibie is scheduled to attend the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Tebu Ireng Islamic boarding school in Jombang, East Java, on May 8, its chief, KH Yusuf Hasyim, said on Thursday.
During the visit, Habibie would also inaugurate a Rp 1.2 billion mosque and "present" it to the school's management, Hasyim said at a meeting with East Java Governor Imam Utomo.
Construction of the mosque, called Ulil Alba, is currently underway, Hasyim said. Habibie would also inaugurate five buildings, built at a cost of Rp 2 billion, in the compounds of the Islamic boarding school.
