Habibie sued over election
PEKANBARU, Riau: A local resident has asked the Riau State Administrative Court to annul the election of Brig. Gen. Saleh Djasit as Riau Governor in October.
Hasbullah Zaini, the plaintiff, named President B.J. Habibie, Minister of Home Affairs Syarwan Hamid and the Riau Legislative Council as defendants, Antara reported on Tuesday.
Hasbullah said Saleh's election by the legislative council and endorsed by Habibie and Syarwan was flawed and constitutionally defective.
Djoko Budihardjo, head of the Riau Prosecutor's Office, which represents the government, said he had sent the dossier to the Attorney General's Office in Jakarta. (01)
