Gypsies, tramps and thieves at Gambir
It is unfortunate that the beautiful modern Gambir railway- station's parking lot (western-side) is full of vendors and food stalls, with people living permanently there with families, who make it a filthy eyesore and also encourage scalpers, thugs and thieves.
They also do not contribute any money to the station authorities nor keep the place clean. Instead, the state railway company should open two food courts (one at each end of the station) with reduced rates and local cuisine for the drivers of buses, taxis and minivans.
Also below the tracks (within the perimeter of the station) they should build some budget transit rooms. Simple bedrooms with bath, exclusively for transiting passengers (who are holding a valid rail ticket) similar to the ones in some airports.
Hopefully, the Gambir management and the Jakarta authorities will take notice of these suggestions and rectify the mess at the lovely Gambir, which is the pride and centerpiece of Jakarta.
