Gusmiati Suid in intensive care
JAKARTA (JP): Prominent choreographer Gusmiati Suid was still under intensive care at the Medistra hospital in South Jakarta on Thursday after being taken to the hospital's Intensive Care Unit two days earlier, a hospital member of staff said.
"She is still in the ICU. We didn't state that she had died," the employee, who asked to remain anonymous, told The Jakarta Post.
Antara news agency reported on Wednesday night that Gusmiati had been declared dead after her heart stopped beating at 5:30 p.m. According to the agency, the 60-year-old woman was in a coma after her heart was started again 20 minutes later.
Gusmiati reportedly suffered from kidney complications, heart problems and chronic diabetes.
The hospital employee did not discuss her health problems.
"It's confidential. It would be unethical to do so," he said.
Gusmiati, the founder of Gumarang Sakti Dance Company, is the mother of choreographer Boi G. Sakti, who performed last week at Art Summit Indonesia 2001, along with his group.
