Gus Dur hospitalized

JAKARTA: Former president Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid was rushed to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital early on Friday morning due to blood pressure fluctuations.

According to Gus Dur's spokesman Adhi Massardi, the former president was admitted to the hospital after his blood pressure reached fluctuated between 105 and 170. Normal blood pressure ranges between 70 and 120.

Adhi blamed exhaustion for the blood pressure fluctuations. Before he fell ill, Gus Dur had been on a trip out of town. He had also been busy meeting politicians on Thursday.

As of last night, Gus Dur was still being treated in the Soepardjo Rustam Pavillion at the hospital.

"He is recovering, and we hope that he will be allowed to return home on Saturday," said Adhi last night. --detik.com
