JAKARTA: The House of Representatives will next week hear the views of more public figures to enrich the discussion on the truth and reconciliation commission bill.

Muslim scholar Nurcholish Madjid, former president Abdurrahman Wahid, former transmigration minister Siswono Yudohusodo, and senior journalist Jakob Oetama are expected to appear at the House on Monday.

Former military chief Gen. (ret) Wiranto, former ambassador to the United States Lt. Gen. (ret) Hasnan Habib, and former Jakarta Governor Ali Sadikin are expected to attend on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the legislators will hear the views of family members of the victims of some violent incidents involving the state, including the Trisakti and Semanggi bloodbaths.

Sidharto Danusubroto, chairman of the House committee deliberating the bill, stressed that his team was attempting to create a good law to help ensure reconciliation.

He promised that the team would have finished the deliberation of the bill before the end of the legislature's tenure in September next year. - JP
